1) Hi, how are you? One year ago we were talking with you about your infamous remix of Lykke Li, but we can say a lot things changed in the last twelve months. Which influences have you absorbed in your music?
Very good, thanks! Some things have changed indeed, when you take that Lykke Li remix, it was made end of 2010 and since then my music has evolved and it’s the same thing for Magic Tapes. I would say, the music in general has evolved. I’m not the kind of person who is stuck in a genre, like making disco or techno forever and I think it’s because I’m firstly a tastemaker and DJ.
The last 2 years I’ve been influenced by the sound of UK House and Garage a lot but I still keep my main influences which are House and Disco with catchy melodies.
2) What does it mean to you to have signed with the Parlophone Records? It’s a big deal for an electronic artist to be part of such a fundamental label.
I had different opportunities but the right choice for The Magician project was to be signed to Parlophone Records. It’s not really a big deal to be an electronic artist in their catalogue. They are able to bring you to the next level.
3) I liked a lot your last EP When The night Is Over, i think it’s a perfect synthesis between your personal sound and what people are listening to in Europe at the moment. Has your fanbase appreciated it as well?
Thank you, you got it well! Some people have been surprised because they still had my Lykke Li remix in head. But in other hands I gained attention from another type of people. It is more like a dancefloor tune than a pop song.
4) Have you started a European tour or your Milan’s gig is a one shot show?
Milan is actually part of the When the Night is Over EP tour. The European tour finishes on January 31st. Then I’m going to South America and Asia.
