Jungle heart
One of my favorite songs on Brand New Love. I love the steel drum part in the middle and the singing and shouting in the tail. It s a typical mid tempo go find dance song.
The Lobby
Our love for eighties music has always been obvious but on this track it s quite in your face. It has a Marvin Gaye feel and we hope it will become an opening song for many weddings to come! Joris our keyboard player came up with the first version of the song.
We run
The first versions of this song were quit different from the one that made it on the record. It started out as a kiwi pop song. But we slowed down the tempo and added lot s of guitar and synth layers.
Your heart
I like the delays Bob our sound engineer added on this track. One of my fav slower tracks on the record. Perfect for an evening drive through the city.
We promised together
A song we already worked on for Everybody knows it s gonna happen only not tonight. We have a synth version, a folk version but I like this guitar version!
Summer boys
I think this song is the twin song from Adrenaline (Stars on the wall / Second go find record). It s a song about friendship and losing friendship.
Japan
Again a typical mid tempo go find song I guess. A synth bass is the core of the song. Everything else is build around it. I m proud of the sax in the tail.
On the rebound
Karolien from the wonderful band the few bits sings on this song. We have a version were we sing this together but I like it better this way!
The Message
This is a simple guitar song, really good fun for us to play live on stage. When I hear this track I think about Real Estate and The War On Drugs. But I guess the song is foremost a go find song like It s automatic from the previous record.
The River
A perfect last track. Slow and with a soft melody. I m a sucker for songs like these. I could probably fill a whole record with songs like the river
