NODE ritorna.
Abbiamo chiesto proprio all’autore dell’acclamato For Those Of You Who Have Never (And Also Those Who Have) di suggerirci 10 album perfetti per viaggiare –in tutti i sensi.
Belong – Common Era
I still remember the summer I first heard this album, back when I had a car. Cruising for hours with friends, going to the lake for a swim; windows down, the thick summer air blasting in, hair everywhere. Abundant & humid; Refreshing & emotive.
Love Inc. – Life’s A Gas
With boundless Wolfgang Voigt albums to pick from, “Life’s A Gas” is irreproachable just from the title track alone. While the majority of the album contains streamlined club cuts, “Life’s A Gas” dips in Balearic territories; teasing & sultry. Really makes you think that shit can’t be that bad after all.
Whirlpool Productions – Dense Music
One of my favorite House albums, these weirdos from Köln (?) serve up some tasty filtered disco bits as well as some verifiable Pop anthems by the way of “From Disco to Disco” which I’m sure everyone has heard at this point. But for me the real killer is “The Cold Song,” just in time for the winter to come.
Robert Ashley – Your Money My Life Goodbye
I have to admit I wasn’t familiar with Robert Ashley’s work until just recently when my girlfriend showed it to me. Way ahead of his time, his operas take you to Pluto and back.
Haruomi Hosono & Bill Laswell – Interpieces Organization
I mean WOAHHH!!! Two of the most prolific musicians in the game team up for some seriously tripped out Ambient/IDM/Jungle hybrids. ESSENTIAL DEEPNESS.
Love, Peace & Trance – Love, Peace & Trance
We all need to chill the fuck out, perhaps all we need is a little LOVE, PEACE & TRANCE.
John Beltran – Ten Days of Blue
Deeply influential for me, “Ten Days of Blue” is one the best Ambient Techno(?) albums I’ve ever heard. Insanely melancholic and beautiful like only Mr. Beltran can do.
David Crosby – If Only I Could Remember My Name
Who doesn’t love the Croz? Pretty sure this is his first solo album, and boy is it a doozy. Psychedelic and perfect for those long drives cross country, this joint kind of touches every sweet spot. Includes some serious personnel, true Laurel Canyon spirit!
Bjorn Torske – Feil Knapp
Finally had the pleasure of meeting Bjorn on my last trip to Norway, a personal hero of mine and a phenomenal cook to boot!! “Feil Knapp” hits you with something super playful yet deep at the same time. Touches of Dancehall, Italo, Krautrock, and Deep House keep the party going all night long.
AZ – Do or Die
Possibly one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums of all time. NYC STAND UP ! ! !
