Here’s a selection of tracks which really just resonate with me and naturally seem to tap into what i like to hear. Furthermore, i think there’s something quite timeless and unique with these tracks. No doubt i will always go back to them.
DJ Marsta – Flames
Those strings, the bass – just perfect hype hype ooooshhhuuuu. When i used to be quite a grime enthusiast i would always be more interested in the instrumentals rather than the mc’s. Tracks like this exemplify why.
Lighter – Skanker
Got to be my favourite drum workout. Instinctively, i think this track will always be at the tip of my fingers. Interestingly, from selecting these tracks it appears that Lighter is a alias of Lightning, an MC from The Movement (an old grime collective who did some amazing sets, check out Fuck Radio)
Zenker Brothers – Davin
It’s amazing the ways in which the zenker’s are able to just roll out tracks and keep the groove going. I love a dreamy melody and this one just resonates with me. I think a sign of a good track is when it can transport your imagination into the club and make you want to be there experiencing in that environment.
Actress – Jardin
Straight up just a beautiful piece of music. I’m not sure what it is but (i’m sure its the same for many other people) I just connect with this track.
2562 – Dinosaur
Amazing track on an amazing album. I remember being taken aback when i first heard his Unbalance album and this was one of the tracks that stood out for me. From choosing this selection i suppose what has become apparent to me is that i have quite an emotional connection to these tracks. I will always have blurry memories of travelling around London, with this track/album providing the soundtrack.
