El Michels Affair – Return To The 37th Chamber
Well this is a bit of a Stockholm syndrome for us but… I love what the guys at Big Crown records are doing. After all their first instrumental work on Wu Tang’s classic album was a big inspiration for “Ride The Samples”. And this one doesn’t disappoint. It’s a great instrumental soul trip through Wu-Tang’s sound, which never gets old. And the cover art is magnificent. Painted (in four different versions) on two sewn together flour sacks in Accra, Ghana by Heavy J and Stoger, two artists who are legends in the Ghanaian Mobile Cinema scene. Stunning work both musically and aesthetically.
