Nina Simone – Live at Montreux
This is my favourite Nina Simone album. She’s obviously an incredible musician, but also incredibly fragile, powerful and totally mesmerising.
Never for a second in this album do I think she is trying to appear as something else, as something cool or something sellable. It really sounds like an incredible musician playing totally free from the heart.
