Of owning? “A Love Supreme” by John Coltrane. In high school my calculus teacher gave me a book by Ashley Kahn about the album and the impact it had on music and how important it was in the timeline of John Coltraneʼs career. At the time it was over my head and I didnʼt fully appreciate it but as I grew into music I started to appreciate it more and it quickly became one of the records I couldnʼt live without. As someone who grew up playing in church, the spiritual nature of the record itself was something that resonated deeply with me as well even bringing me to tears more than once.
