A record that made you want to start making records
When I moved onto guitar from the drums around the age of 13, I did so because I saw a video of John Mayer playing his song ‘Neon’ on an acoustic guitar, and I knew I had to have a stab at taking the guitar seriously and trying to write songs. I followed the YouTube reccomendations through to the conclusion that most of my favourites came from the Continuum album and bought it when I saved up enough money. I pretty much taught myself guitar by listening to it on repeat and for the first time, I felt like maybe I could have a voice as a songwriter, not just an instrumentalist in a band.
