La nostra rubrica oggi vi porta in belgio. 2) How did you come up with the name “Villa”?
1) Hi guys, introduce yourself to our followers.
We are Francois (producing tracks) and Thang (mixing tracks), two friends from Ghent
We think it sounds fresh / spacy and groovy. Also nice to know is that Catalan people call Ibiza ‘Vila’, which was earlier ‘Eivissa’… So it’s ok if some people call us balearic.
3)How do you describe your sound?
Spaced out hyperdisco, very important to involve pop elements in our rmx’s/tracks… Otherwise girls won’t dance..
4) Are there any musicians who inspire you?
Trent Reznor, Thomas Bangalter, Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Quincy Jones, Josh Homme, Joakim…
5) We have already interviewed “The Magician” and “Mickey” , how would you define the Belgian scene?
Creativity has always been present in Belgium. A very important reason might be the club scene we know in Belgium since the New Beat era. There are lots of great clubs and parties with a crazy history (Boccacio, Cherry Moon, Eskimo parties, Pop Life, Café d’Anvers…) The Belgian party crowd are inspiring for the dj’s and producers during their perfomance, so they take that energy to the studio and translate it into great productions. Best club for the moment is Libertines/Supersport in Brussels, where Mustang and also Mickey are residents: the crowd loves quality music as many great artists been performing the past one year and a half. For 2011, we’ll dj in LS every month. Other Belgian artists like Jean Montevideo, The Glimmers, Paul Chambers, Booby, Spirit Catcher, Mugwump, The Subs, Mumbai Science… are all doing a great job!
6) Have you got plans for the next future?
Just finished a great rmx for Adele, an artist we have to keep an eye on in 2011…! Her voice is incredible! Busy on a Yeasayer rmx, got to start our second ep, play at lots of clubs and festivals…
7) We’ve finished. Greets the followers in your preferred language and recommend us a song.
ooo, have a listen to ‘Saint-Tropez: Femmes Fatales’
